We are delighted to announce that the first of our Beer Tastings will focus on local ales and green hop beer! To be held in store next Friday we are lucky enough to have representatives from four of the best local breweries in the business: Wantsum, Gadds, Canterbrew and the Canterbury Brewers.
Kentish Brewers are fortunate to have access to some wonderfully locally grown hops and thus can produce fresh “green hopped” beers at Harvest time, a real treat for Beer enthusiasts.
We will be taking an in depth look at how Green Hop beers are now taking Autumn by storm, how bottle conditioned beer can differ from cask ale and we will be introducing each of our featured breweries and trying a selection of their favourite bottled beers.
The World of Craft Beers has exploded over the last decade and here is an ideal opportunity to find out a little more about what’s involved in making great beer and how this has all come about.
Places are limited in our small little wine shop so to avoid disappointment please get in touch via email or phone asap
Champagne Tasting: AYALA
Thursday 6th November: 7:45pm – 10pm
We have a few last minute tickets available for the first of our November Tastings tomorrow night.
We are delighted to have a wonderful Champagne house visiting us tomorrow called Ayala. From the town of Ay, Ayala is one of the original twenty six Grandes Marques Champagne Houses and dates from 1860. Pioneers of a delicate, drier style of wine during the second half of the 19th century, the wines are renowned for precision and finesse.
An exciting prospect for sure!
We have two other fantastic wine evenings ahead in November, including Beaujolais Nouveau and Taitinger, plus our monthly whisky tasting. For more details please get in touch or pop in to the store.
Friday September 12th: 7:45pm – 10pm
We are delighted to announce that our first English Wine Tasting will feature one of the most influential and outstanding English Wine producers as special guests: NYETIMBER.

This Friday we will be hosting an evening of purely Scottish Single Malt Whisky.
After the fun, 6 Nations of Whisky, this month we are back to the classics, with our little – Tour De Scotch – featuring smaller distilleries from the Lowlands, Highlands, Speyside, Islands and Islay.
Too much to carry? We’re happy to deliver your wine and spirits – we’ll do it for free if you live within Canterbury City boundaries otherwise we’ll make a small charge
Just ask Jamie or Marion in the shop …
Just arrived is this classic red Châteauneuf-du-Pape, very fine and elegant. It has a beautiful colour, an earthy nose, but one of freshness, lively and promising. At the same time, it is suave and rich on the finish. The tannins are supple and ripe with no dryness. With its structure and complexity, this red wine will go well with game, lamb or risotto with wild mushrooms cooked in a red wine sauce.
Do you know how many local breweries there are in Kent? You can browse them here. Here at Le Mouton Rouge you can find dozens of delicious local ales from breweries all over East Kent. Any three for a tenner for an original present…
Cigars need to be grown in humid and warm regions, such as the Caribbean. Traditionally Cuba is the premier centre of cigar manufacture and the Cuban cigar is the benchmark against which to judge all others. All Cuban cigars are called ‘Puros’ meaning pure as they are made purely of tobaccos from the country where the cigars were rolled.
Le Mouton Rouge stocks a wide range of Cuban cigar brands: Partagas, Monte Cristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagas among others – each cigar is a small luxury.
