of Burgundy. Stretching from Dijon down to Lyon, for many this region is
the spiritual home of two very significant grape varieties, Pinot Noir &
We will be looking closely at some top examples of these elegant grape
varieties and the wines of one of Burgundies top Domaines, Louis Jadot.
Dating back to the early 1800′s and with a stunning portfolio from some
very prestigious appellations in the region, this should be a great insight
into the style and history of the region.*
*Burgundy has a higher number of appellations d’origine contrôlée (AOCs)
than any other French region, and is often seen as the most
terroir-conscious of the French wine regions. The various Burgundy AOCs are
classified from carefully delineated Grand Cru vineyards down to more
non-specific regional appellations. The practice of delineating vineyards
by their terroir in Burgundy goes back to medieval times, when various
monasteries played a key role in developing the Burgundy wine industry.
This should be a fun little night in store, places are limited and cost
£15 per person. The evening starts at 7:45pm and should be finished around
10pm, to reserve your place please get in touch via email, phone or simply
pop in to the shop to pick up a ticket.

After some great events over the past twelve months, to launch this years Whisky Tastings, we will be sampling a few wee drams from a range of rare, hard to find single malts. These are produced by one of the great custodians of whisky from Elgin, independent bottlers, Gordon & Macphail. The Connoisseurs Choice collection displays excellent varieties of aroma, mouthfeel, taste and finish. We have selected a few beauties from the vaults that offer different sectors of the flavour map and different regions of Scotland.
Located in the city and Royal Burgh of Elgin, Scotland, is the family owned and managed firm of Gordon & MacPhail. Established in 1895, Gordon & MacPhail has remained proudly independent and family owned throughout its long history.
In the mid-1960s Gordon & MacPhail took the unprecedented step of launching a range of single malts under the brand name ‘Connoisseurs Choice’. Until this time, many of the whiskies the range featured would not have been available as single malt. Today, Connoisseurs Choice retains this exclusive nature with a range of rare and sought after single malts from distilleries throughout Scotland.
If you fancy sampling a host of fantastic malts from rarely seen, uncommon distilleries, such as Alt a Bhainne and Royal Brackla, this is a great opportunity!
